  • Troubleshooting Whistling Thule Roof Rack on a 2012 Volvo XC60 with Sunroof
  • Roof racks and roof rack mounted accessories tend to be pretty noisy. Especially when you throw a sunroof into the mix. If the noise is the worst with the sunroof open then you will most likely have to close it. What you can try is repositioning the cargo box so that maybe the wind will hit it differently to see if the noise gets reduced. The install hardware of Thule boxes is adjustable front to back, so you will want to try moving it forward or back on your crossbars and maybe even try...

  • Recommendations for a Whistling Cargo Box on a 2010 Volvo XC60
  • The best advice I can give you would be to experiment with various positions of the Thule Force XL Cargo Box part # TH625 on the roof of your 2010 Volvo XC60. Try sliding the box further forward if possible, or further back to see if the whistling sound will go away. If you can adjust the crossbar spread you can also try experimenting with that as well.

  • Troubleshooting Roof Box Horizontal Sliding with Yakima Round Bar Roof Rack
  • The Yakima round bars will allow more movement of pretty much any accessory due to the reduced surface area for the mount contact. The Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box XXL # TH6359B or XL # TH6358B with quick-grip mounting clamps will hold the box secure front to back but with round bars the side to side movement may continue to be an issue in crosswinds. There isn't a recommendation from either manufacturer for this but we have had customers use different technics to troubleshoot....

  • Will the Thule Sidekick Cargo Box Fit Malone Crossbars on a 2021 VW Atlas
  • I checked with Thule and the Thule Sidekick item # TH78GC is not compatible with the T-Track Adapter for Thule Cargo Boxes item # TH27PQ. It fits only the cargo boxes with the PowerClick attachment points. The T-Track adapter would not be a better option, over the included hardware, to mount the Sidekick on the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack item # MPG216. It would push the cargo box up higher on the crossbars. The included u-bolts will have the bottom of the Sidekick mounted flush to the top...

  • Will the Thule Force XL Rooftop Cargo Box Interfere with the GPS Reception?
  • If your new 2021 Toyota Sienna Limited has the rear fin for the GPS or radio reception, the 82-3/4 inch long Thule Force XT XL Rooftop Cargo Box # TH6358B will most likely cover the fin. Depending on what you have stored inside the cargo box, there may be some interference, but there should not be a complete blocking of the signal for your radio/GPS. The plastic box itself should not obstruct the satellite signal you receive from the antenna. If you want a shorter box, I recommend the...

  • How to Fix Clicking Noise Coming from MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent
  • The clicking noise that you are hearing from your MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07500K or # MA00-07000K actually means you need to replace the Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF. I reached out to my contact at MaxxAir who confirmed this.

  • Opening Handle On Yakima SkyBox 16 With The Key Cylinder Removed and The Handle Wont Open
  • With the lock cylinder removed you will be able to see the hole that the lock protrudes into. This piece should move inside the handle to allow that locking mechanism to either lock the handle or release the handle. If it will not move you may try some WD40 on the mechanism to see if it will break free and allow you to open the handle. If the mechanism spins freely with no resistance it is likely that it is damaged and not engaging the lock properly. If this is the case you will have...

  • MaxxAir Roof Vent Fan Dome Will Not Open
  • If the dome on your MaxxAir # MA00-04002K vent fan will not open with the manual knob then the MaxxAir # MA10-20281K-3CF "operator" is broken and should be replaced. This is a little gear box that actuates the lifter arms on the lid. Your original question make it sound like your fan had an automatically opening lid, which the 4002 model does not. If you have a different model then let me know for an updated recomendation

  • Reducing Noise from a Rhino Rack XTray Roof Rack
  • The shape of a roof basket like the XTray, part # RMCB01 can make it very loud when travelling, but there are a few things you can do to help it be a little quieter as you're travelling. The first option is to simply remove the roof basket and store it when not in use. This will save the basket from any unnessary damage, but risks it not being available when you want it, or having the style you want for your vehicle. The next option is to replace your vortex strips, part # RRM626 ....

  • Questioning Sturdiness of Rhino-Rack Crossbars on 2016 Toyota Highlander
  • The Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points - Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Qty 2 # RRRVP37 should have a little flex and play but what you are referencing as a concern sounds excessive. I recommend un-installing the crossbar and foot and looking for where that "play" may be coming from. If the lock washers on the fit kit and the tower are flattened, then I would need to see a visual of the movement to further help but replacement may be necessary. I've attached a couple...

  • Advent AC Troubleshooting For Inoperable Fan
  • I have a solution for you. First in regards to your Advent Air RV Air Conditioner - 13,500 Btu - White # ACM135, you need to take off the shroud and check if the fan itself will move freely. If it feels rough, gummed up or even jammed it will need to be cleaned and oiled. If you are getting proper power to the fan and it moves freely you will need to replace the fan motor and that is something we do not carry. You will need to contact the manufacturer to get a replacement.

  • How To Test An Air Conditioner Fan Motor To Determine If It is Bad
  • The easiest way to test any fan is to identify the fan motor lead wires and apply power directly to the wiring. Depending on your air conditioner the wiring may be identified on the control box or on the wiring itself. If you can not find this information you can pull off the shroud on the roof and trace the wires to determine which wires you will need to tie into.

  • Troubleshooting Atwood Heat Pump Not Working On a 2017 Forest River FR3 Motorhome
  • With your Atwood you could have one of a few issues. Do note the heat pump is not designed to work in temperatures 45 degrees Fahrenheit and below. So if you are in temperatures above this you will need to check the temperature sensor in the roof top unit to verify it is not damaged. The display/controller as well as the wiring for it may be damaged which would cause the main control unit inside the ceiling air distribution box to not know what the wall controller is set to. Your best option...

  • Missing Key for 2878 Lock Core Number on Sears Sport 20-SV
  • I reached out to my contact at Thule (they made the Sears roof boxes) and that key number is no longer a replaceable key. If the unit is unlocked you can use the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 2 # TH450200 as replacements. If it is not unlocked you can either call a locksmith to have a key made for your locks or you can carefully drill out the core as drilling too far will damage the carrier.

  • I contacted the manufacturer regarding the issue you are describing with your MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-07500K. They recommended first doing a reset on the fan. You can do this by removing power by pulling the fuse from the circuit the fan is on from the fuse box. Then reinsert the fuse to do a reset on the fan. If you continue to have the same issue, they said that he circuit board is likely having amperage issues and would need to be replaced. The correct circuit board...

  • How to Replace Lock Cylinder with Broken Key on Thule Cascade XT Roof Box
  • To remove a Thule lock cylinder like the one on your Thule Cascade XT roof box the master key must be inserted into the cylinder and it must be in the unlocked position. That being said, I'll share some tips that will hopefully allow you remove the broken key so you can insert the master key and replace the cylinder. • Troubleshooting Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Freezing Up
  • Yes, you have the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box, Start Capacitor, and Heat Strip, # ACM150CH. This is not an issue that we get often but it does sometimes occur with most any unit, when this happens it is frequently due to air flow. First check the direction of the vents and how the air is being directed. If causing the cooled air to recirculate directly opposed to turning over the air in the RV, this can cause a freeze up situation. Pull the roof top cowling on...

  • How to Try and Remove Broken Key from Thule Lock Cylinder
  • You can try using a something small like a pin or paperclip, inserting it into the lock core and attempting to loosen the key enough to the point you can grasp it with a pair of pliers; using a spray-on lubricant may help getting the pin inside the core. If you manage to do this you can get replacement key # THKEYN123. If not you will need to have a locksmith drill out the core and replace it with # THLOCKN123. I do not recommend attempting this yourself as you may damage the housing and...
